Agreeing with a few million other parents as well as the New York Times Bestseller List, I just had to write a strong recommendation for Sherri Duskey Rinker‘s bedtime book Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site. This sweet book was published in 2011 and I recently purchased it for my toddler son. He loves all cars and trucks, but especially construction vehicles – this book is such a winner! The rhyming prose are so well written, everything flows so easily and smoothly. Some rhyming books (and I love rhyming books) have very forced, hard-to-time phrases that just don’t quite work. This poetry, however, is spot-on. The imagery created through the words accompanied by the wonderful illustrations make this book a must-read for little ones in my opinion. The images, created by Tom Lichtenheld, have a muted quality that really adds to the “bedtime” theme, and all the vehicles are detailed, but also somehow soft. They look like you could hug them. Perfection!
The age range is 1 and up and I would fully agree with that. I like that it does not have an age cap, as I could see even older kids, such as myself, enjoying this lovable book. Well done Ms. Rinker and Mr. Lichtenheld!
Highly recommended by myself and my toddler!
