Local Author Goes to Number One on Amazon’s Hot New Releases in Category
Baldwin County native Mallory Friese recently celebrated the release of her first children’s book What if Animals Ruled the School? The book was published on November 27th, 2013, and within one week, it was number one on Amazon.com’s Hot New Releases list for its children’s books category. Friese, who also illustrated the book, states that she is “overjoyed and very humbled” by the unexpected success of her children’s literature debut.
The story is about a little boy who while listening to his teacher read to his class about animals, finds himself imagining, “What if animals ruled the school?” Each full color page shows all the silly things he thinks would happen if all the adults at school were animals. Written for ages 5 to 8, Friese says that she hopes children of all ages will enjoy the tale, as well as their parents and teachers.
What if Animals Ruled the School? is currently available at Amazon.com, and Friese hopes to have more new titles coming in 2014 that will be available in local retail stores as well. Updates on these and more information about the book can be found at malloryfriese.com and acgbooks.com.

Baldwin County Native Launches New Children’s Book Publishing Company ACG Books
Baldwin County welcomes a new publishing company, ACG Books, to its list of locally owned and operated businesses. Created and run by Robertsdale native Mallory Friese, the company is solely focused on youth-oriented literature that has positive and encouraging messages. Friese, an alumna of Robertsdale High School, had the inspiration for ACG Books after returning to her home county in south Alabama from the Washington D.C. area, where she moved after graduating from Auburn University. She described that she is “very excited to be creating fun and positive stories kids will want to read over and over again. What better place to start than where I was a child.”
Drawing on a background in communcations and marketing-based writing, Friese explained that after becoming a parent herself, the world of children’s literature was the direction she wanted to go and creating a publishing company around that idea seemed to be the “perfect fit.”
ACG Books’ first children’s story, What if Animals Ruled the School?, was recently released and is currently available at Amazon.com. Friese says ACG plans to soon have free interactive features available for children on the company website, such as games and activity sheets with book characters, and hopes to soon provide resources for teachers and parents as well. She described that “getting involved with the local schools and libraries is a priority for ACG. The vision for this company is not only to create great books for children, but to be a positive and productive part of the community.”
The company plans to publish several more titles in 2014 and to have them available at several major retailers. More information about these and ACG Books is available at www.acgbooks.com, as well as on Facebook and Twitter.
